About DOMMUNE
Naohiro Ukawa, a prominent figure in the contemporary Japanese art scene, launched DOMMUNE in 2010 as Japan's first live streaming studio, following the now-legendary Mixrooffice (2006-2008), as a new cultural hub anticipating the era of social streaming. Appearing suddenly as the "final media" in the dawn of SNS, DOMMUNE boasts overwhelming quality and viewership among the multitude of live streaming programs, and has continued to exist as a unique cultural platform, featuring various guests from around the world whenever they visit Japan since its inception. Influencing even the London-based music channel BOILER ROOM, it is no exaggeration to say that DOMMUNE created the blueprint for almost all of the sound and art streaming, as well as culture streaming, that now flood the world. Over the past 16 years, DOMMUNE has streamed approximately 5,000 programs, totaling about 10,000 hours and 200 terabytes of data, with a total audience exceeding 200 million. In an era where traditional concepts and formats of "broadcasting," "publishing," and "advertising" are breaking down, DOMMUNE continues to experiment with live video streaming, innovatively exploring new possibilities in visual communication day and night. The evolved form of this ultimate media platform, DOMMUNE, is SUPER DOMMUNE, towering on the 9th floor of Shibuya PARCO. In 2021, it received the 71st Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Artistic Excellence.
