This legendary stage performance is making a comeback after 83 years. Chagall 's stage backdrop for Ballet“Aleko” currently on display at Aomori Museum of Art, has been brought to life on a giant LED screen, intertwining with the physical expressions of spirited dancers. This fantastical collaboration between Chagall 's painting and ballet, reuniting across the ages, will bring you a truly fascinating performance.

Ballet“Aleko” is Narratives on the poem The Gypsies (1827) by the Russian literary giant Alexander Pushkin.

The music is an orchestral arrangement of Tchaikovsky 's Piano Trio in A minor, and the background paintings were by Marc Chagall.

The four background paintings were sold by the Ballet Theatre in 1977 and are now exhibited as artworks in Aomori Museum of Art the Aleko Hall.

In November 2024, Aomori Museum of Art will stage a new production of Ballet“Aleko” by Naoya Homan, breathing new life into the stage art once again after more than 50 years.
