[Press Release] "MoN Farm" a cultural experiment space fostered by people and nature, launches on the rooftop of the museum.

concept

We'll all plant the first step in creating a vegetable garden that will last 100 years.

To coincide with the launch of MoN Farm, we will be holding a kickoff event on SUN. July 12, 2026. On that day, in addition to introducing the concept of MoN Farm, we plan to hold a seedling planting workshop for participants. Attendees will get their hands dirty and take the first step together in nurturing a new ecosystem on the rooftop of Takanawa.

The event will bring together a diverse range of people, including museum visitors, local residents, surrounding businesses, schools, and Child. Through the experience of growing plants, we aim to foster new connections between people and nature, between people and the community, and between people themselves, and to co-create a culture unique to this place. We hope that each activity, starting with planting, will become a seed of culture that will be passed down for 100 years to come.

MoN Farm Partner Introduction

mitosaya

Mitosaya is a distillery located in Otaki-machi, Isumi-gun, Chiba Prefecture. Using fruit trees, medicinal herbs, and herbs cultivated on its premises, which include a medicinal herb garden, as well as the abundant blessings produced by trusted partners throughout Japan, they create their products using fermentation and distillation techniques.

SynecO

SynecO is a startup that aims to build a new relationship in which human activities and the natural environment mutually benefit each other, and provides solutions using "extended ecosystems" (Note 2), including Synecoculture™ (Note 1), as well as systems that support the evaluation and construction of ecosystems.
(Note 1) Synecoculture is an open-field cultivation method for useful plants that was scientifically formulated by Masatoshi Funahashi, a researcher at Sony Computer Science Laboratories.
(Note 2) An extended ecosystem is an ecosystem in which human activity actively intervenes and causes organisms to exceed their natural state.
This is an ecosystem that enhances diversity and enables various ecosystem functions and ecosystem services.

Speakers

Hiroshi Eguchi

Born in Nagano Prefecture in 1972. Distiller. Opened the bookstore "UTRECHT" in 2002. Became involved in the launch and operation of "TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR" from 2009, and became a distiller in 2015. In 2018, he renovated a former medicinal herb garden in Otaki Town, Chiba Prefecture, and opened "mitosaya Herb Garden Distillery," which produces distilled spirits (eau-de-vie) made from fruits and plants. He is also involved with "Naeme," an agricultural corporation in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture, which cultivates herbs and edible flowers.

Yuko Yamamoto

Born in 1977 in Tokyo. Began working as a freelance illustrator in 2000 and continues to do so. In 2017, she co-founded and is involved in the operation of Mitosaya Herb Garden Distillery with her husband. Her activities mainly involve the production of non-alcoholic processed products, event planning and management, and garden maintenance. She is dedicated to giving form to the charm and discoveries of plants.
